Alyson grew up in Miami, Florida. In high school she was active in her synagogue’s youth group, which provided her with an opportunity to engage in informal learning, connect with adult mentors and develop her leadership skills. Those opportunities set her on a path to becoming a lifelong learner and remaining connected to Judaism. Prior to coming to B'nai Jeshurun Alyson worked as the Director of Youth Activities at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple in New Brunswick, NJ, the Assistant Educator at Temple Sholom in Fanwood, NJ, and Director of Youth and Informal Education at North Shore Synagogue in Syosset, New York. She also served as the NFTY Regional Board Advisor, as well as a hospital social worker in Miami, Florida. She served as a Machon Kaplan intern at the Religious Action Center in Washington, DC and was a staff member at URJ Crane Lake Camp. Her summers at camp trained her to work with many different types of people, become more independent and explore Judaism in a different environment. Alyson holds a Masters Degree in Social Work and Masters in Religious Education from Hebrew Union College. She looks forward to using her experiences to help create meaningful educational programs in the Temple. Alyson and her husband Rabbi Philip Bazeley met at URJ Crane Lake Camp. They live in Highland Park with their sons Gavin and Matthew
