Congregation B’nai Jeshurun: A Reformed Temple Serving Morris County and the Surrounding Area
A WELCOMING REFORMED CONGREGATION
Congregation B’nai Jeshurun is a vibrant Reform Congregation where Jews-by-birth, Jews-by-choice, interfaith families, as well as traditional and non-traditional families, celebrate our Jewish faith and heritage. Located at 1025 South Orange Avenue on the border of Short Hills and Livingston, NJ, our membership includes residents from Morris, Essex, and Union Counties, from cities that include Chatham, Florham Park, Madison, Maplewood, Millburn, South Orange, Summit, West Orange, and other surrounding towns.
The heart of B’nai Jeshurun is our faith, our commitment to Tikkun Olam (Social Justice), tzedakah, and the study of Torah. Together as a community, we come together to welcome Shabbat, celebrate High Holy Days and Festivals, and share in Life Cycle events.
Congregation B’nai Jeshurun has a long and storied tradition. We are one of the oldest Jewish congregations in the State of New Jersey and in the United States of America. However, it is not the length of our history that makes us special.
Most important, we are a congregation which is a home to all who walk through our doors. We are here as a community in the most vital times of our members’ lives. We offer solace and comfort in times of pain and offer the same hand in times of joy. We do everything we can to get our members involved and connect names to faces so that everyone feels part of the family.
EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER (ECC) Serving Morris County
At the Rabbi Barry H. Greene Early Childhood Center we focus on each child, stimulating his or her natural sense of wonder to discover the joy of learning in a warm and supportive atmosphere. With an excellent child to teacher ratio, our welcoming and inclusive environment serves children ages 3 months through 6 years.
Our innovative and dynamic programming includes: TBJ's Together with Babies Program (4-13 months); Toddlertime and Shabbat Shalom Club (14-24 months); The Transition to Two’s; Playschool 2’s; Preschool 3’s; The 3+4's; Pre-K 4’s; and our fully accredited full-day Kindergarten. We offer daily early morning drop off and after school enrichment activities.
RELIGIOUS SCHOOL
At Temple B’nai Jeshurun our goal is to create engaging and innovative learning experiences for our students and their families. All of our programming is guided by our school's vision to create an educational center that encourages our community to flourish and thrive.
Through a sacred collaboration between clergy, staff, teachers, parents and students we are proud to offer an exciting religious school program: Our Religious School meets one day a week. Students in Kindergarten to Grade 2 attend on Sunday mornings and students in Grades 3 to 6 sign up for either Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday sessions. Each Grade focuses on a different central theme for the year and also explores Jewish holidays and T'filah (prayer) together. We strive to create a close community and encourage open communication between faculty, staff and families.
CAMP TBJ
Our premiere preschool Day Camp provides young children, 14 months through 6 years, with the most dynamic and extraordinary 8 weeks of summer fun! Campers come from Morris, Essex, and Union Counties, from cities that include Chatham, Livingston, Roseland, Madison, Maplewood, Millburn, Short Hills, South Orange, Summit, West Orange, and other surrounding towns.
It’s our Camp TBJ philosophy that early camp experiences must be adventurous and challenging, as well as nurturing and age/skill appropriate. Camp TBJ provides children with a strong sense of community while promoting friendship, character building, self-confidence, independence, competence, sportsmanship, spirit and team building.
Our unique and multi-faceted programming offers campers opportunities to increase their athletic abilities, while expanding their creative horizons as they have fun and discover new interests! Our non-competitive atmosphere encourages exploration and creates success.
